Materials Technician - Pediatric ED

Children's Tower / Materials Management / Full time

Under supervision, the Materials Technician assists with a variety of indirect patient care activities to include maintaining a clean and safe environment; assisting with the ordering and stocking of patient care supplies; and providing assistance with maintenance of appropriate equipment and supplies.

Experience REQUIRED:
Minimum of one (1) year of previous experience in supply stocking or warehouse experience
Experience PREFERRED:
Previous work experience in a similar practice setting (e.g. acute care, outpatient clinics, etc.)


Education/training REQUIRED:
Must possess reading and writing skills and comprehend and communicate in English
Education/training PREFERRED:
High School Diploma or equivalent


Independent action(s) required:
Functions with direction to receive input and guidance regarding indirect care priorities and for assistance with problem solving.
Requires prior approval or guidance from supervisor for time/schedule changes, legal issues, any indirect care which deviates from departmental standards and works with Supervisor to identify educational resources to meet developmental needs.
Job duties may include the access to and/or contact with medications and related supplies.

Work schedule will be established based on direction and feedback.
Schedules, including requirements of shift rotations and hours of work may be adjusted as necessary to meet staffing requirements or department/unit needs.

As appropriate based on unit assignment.
Physical Requirements (includes use of assistance devices as appropriate):
Physical - Lifting 50-100 lbs.
Activities: Prolonged standing, Frequent bending, Walking (distance), Reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive), Repetitive motion
Mental/Sensory: Strong recall, Reasoning, Problem solving, Hearing, Speak clearly, Write legibly, Reading, Logical thinking
Emotional: Fast pace environment, Able to handle multiple priorities, Noisy environment, Able to adapt to frequent change

Every other weekend staffing requirement- Essential Personnel

Holidays are rotating

Days/evenings

4-5 days/week for FT status

Rotating shifts are a probability to ensure adequate coverage

Cross-training into adult ED is expected
